When you are at the end of your rope…….

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Hello everyone,

I was trying to find something in one of my prayer journals this week, and in flipping quickly through the pages, a sentence jumped out at me.  It was not what I was looking for, but it caught my attention.  It happened to be at a time when I was going through a struggle.   The words were – When you are at the end of your rope, let go of yours, and hold onto Mine!

Just a few days later, my Pastor, gave a message and spoke about the tassels on the hem of Jesus’ garment.  All of a sudden, I got a revelation that the tassel is His rope!  That is what the woman with the issue of blood grabbed on to when she received her healing.

So many people are going through hard times, but that’s when we grab on to Jesus.  We may have our moments of weakness – but didn’t David?  And what about Elijah who ran and hid?  Weren’t they frightened and discouraged at times?  But hard times did not stop them and they will not stop you!

Courage does not mean that you are not afraid – in means you go on in spite of fear.  It does not mean you are not discouraged – it means you go on in spite of discouragement.  Courage is the decision to move forward – even when you are at the end of your rope!

The strength to do that doesn’t come from the size of your body – it comes from who is inside of you, and what He gives us.  His character.  An elephant can be afraid of a mouse.  If we are filled with the Lord, then no matter how small we are, no matter how weak or discouraged we “feel” – God’s character, His strength, and even the faith He gives us, will be sufficient to carry us through.

When David fought Goliath, he was young and small and Goliath was a giant.  However David came against him in God’s name and with the abilities God gave him.   God gave him the character, the strength to stand above the others and fight the giant.  What is the giant in your life right now?

Is it health, the economy, relationships?  Nothing is impossible to them that believe.  So for those of you who have suffered and endured many battles and even losses over the last few years, take heart.   If you were not important to God’s Kingdom purposes, the enemy would not bother!  And he usually attacks the hardest right before the blessing and promise comes, to try to make you give up.

So for all the weary ones out there who are at the end of their ropes – let go of yours and take hold of the Lord’s!

Blessings, Evelyn

Hungry for Heaven

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Hello everyone,

A friend’s husband went to be with the Lord this past week – very suddenly – and it got me to thinking.  Maybe it’s my age or the times we are living in, but lately I have been hearing more about people wanting to know more about heaven.  Most everyone has had a loved one go to heaven.  When a loved one goes home, although we rejoice for them if they have known the Lord, it is us, as the ones left behind on earth, who become lost.  They are not lost, for we know where they are.  However, everything in our lives – in the natural and spiritual – feels as if it gets turned upside down.

Heaven becomes so important to us and we want to learn more about it.  We hunger to have more revelation about this place where our loved one is now living, and where we will be someday too.  We hunger for the details.  Although we know it is a beautiful, wonderful place, we hunger for these details like never before.

When we hunger in the natural, we search for food.  When we hunger in the spiritual, we search for the Lord to give us revelation.  His spiritual food.  God’s Word says that when we seek Him, we will find Him.  When we want to learn in the natural, we seek out the teacher, we look for the answer.  When we want to learn in the spiritual, we seek out the great Teacher, the Lord, and His Word, and He will give us the answer.  We can come to Him and ask Him anything.

Keep asking, keep seeking, and the door will be opened.  The door of His wisdom and revelation.  There has to be a hunger first, then the desire to satisfy it.  Then the asking and seeking.

Isaiah 55:1 says, Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come buy wine and milk without money and without price.  God will give us what we need and we will find if we seek Him with all our heart.  He gives us one piece at a time until  everything comes together perfectly.  We keep seeking as we get one piece of revelation, for the next and the next.

No matter what you are going through, seek the Lord.  Run to Him and He will open the door.  Be  hungry!
