Consider

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Hello everyone,

As I was praying about what to write in this blog, God put the word, “consider” on my heart.  Many times in the Bible, God tells us to consider – to stop and think about something.  I immediately thought of the scripture in Luke 12:24-30.  That was one of my favorite scriptures years ago when my husband Bill was starting his law practice.  Anyone who owns their own business knows that each week is a step of faith for God’s provision – especially when starting out.

Considering the economy and job situations, right now is a good time to consider what God is saying in this scripture!  He will take care of us.  Just as He takes care of the birds who have no storehouses, yet He feeds them.  Just as He clothes the lilies in the field.

He also tells us in Psalm 41:1-3 that He blesses those who consider the poor.  Not only does He bless them, but He delivers them in their time of trouble.  He also preserves them and keeps them alive.  And He will not deliver them over to their enemies.  The Lord will strengthen them when they are sick.  WOW!  All this for considering someone in need!

In 1 Samuel 12:24 we are told to consider what great things the Lord has done.  And in Psalm 5:1, David asks the Lord to consider his prayer.  Again in Psalm 9:13, David asks the Lord to consider his trouble.

How do all these “considerations” fit together?  When we are in need, we are to stand on God’s Word and believe that God will take care of us.  Then as He does, if we consider someone else in need, He blesses us, delivers us, and strengthens us.  As it says in 2 Corinthians 9:12, when we give to others, the people who receive will pray for us and give thanks to God.  We  consider what great things the Lord has done and praise Him!

Let’s consider our ways.  Even when we are in need, there is always someone else we can help whose needs are greater than ours.  We’ve all heard stories of people who had so little, yet managed to stretch what they had to help another.  How the Lord must love it when we consider!  How His heart will then consider us!

Just Because……..

Hello Everyone

It’s time for Valentine’s Day and the stores are filled with heart-shaped boxes of candy, roses, heart jewelry.  It’s time for romantic dinners and even the littlest children exchange cards at school.  I love Valentine’s Day!

But should we only show our love for one another on one special day a year?  Yes it’s great to set aside a day, but shouldn’t we always express our love – just because?

From the day we were married, my husband Bill always gave me gifts – just because.  He’d come home from the office with my favorite candy, or roses, and send me cards in which he would write love notes.  In later years, he added emails.  He would call everyday from work just to say I love you, miss you, or to let me know he was thinking of me.  Just because…….

Just because.  I think more these days about the elderly, the sick, the poor or lonely ones.  Shouldn’t we show them kindness and love in some way – just because?   I think that we all fall short at times.  All of us are so busy.  We love in such a fast-paced world.  I am blessed to have several friends that go out of their way to show kindness.  Sometimes I look back at my own life and think, WOW!  How many days could I have taken some time – how many times was I just to busy?  Just because…..

Why show love?  Just because……we have the love of Jesus within us.  Just because.. Jesus loved us enough to give us His all.  Just because… we are His hands and feet.  Just because… we are His light.  Just because……of love.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Blessings, Evelyn
